Spotted an e-trike on your footpath? Here’s what it’s up to.

Mount Alexander Shire Council is conducting an audit of footpaths, trails and other pathways across the shire.
Talis Consultants will carry out the inspection, which includes recording video and assessing the condition of each path to understand what needs repair or renewal.
The inspection will run through February and early March 2026.
Talis will use a specially designed e‑trike to complete the work. The trike is built to operate safely on footpaths and is quiet and environmentally friendly. It is equipped with:
- specialist GPS for accurate data capture
- digital image tools
- high‑definition 5K video recording
- onboard computers that record pathway condition and defects in real time.
The e‑trike moves slowly and is not expected to interrupt businesses, properties or pedestrians.
Council will use the information collected in this audit to plan and fund pathway renewal works over the next five years.
