Yarny Day Out

Knitters, crocheters, spinners and weavers rejoice! Castlemaine's first festival just for you. Demonstrations, workshops, a market and place to hang out with your yarny buddies.

Featuring over 25 Victorian small-scale makers and farmers, immerse yourself in a feast of fibres, from naturally coloured fleeces to wildly speckled sock, yarns, and handmade notions to match such as project bags and stitch markers.

Ever wanted to learn machine knitting? There's an introductory workshop for that. Beautiful visible mending or needle felting a cute little penguin to take home with you? Book it in!

For a retreat from the action, there's a dedicated area for light refreshments from the CWA and a place to sit and stitch. Possibly watch on as fleece is prepared and spun into yarn by the indomitable Newstead Spinners, before an optional visit to the Bridge Hotel for possibly the rowdiest bunch of knitters to be found.

Make a whole day of it and explore the town of Castlemaine - artisanal foods, galleries, op shops and a stunning Botanical Garden with a huge playground for the kiddies.
