Multi-awarded Long Paddock Cheese creates deliciously-different handmade cheeses, mainly in the French style but with a definite Australian identity. Our globally-renowned cheesemaker, Ivan Larcher, heads a small-but-skilled team that creates soft and semi-hard cheeses, perfectly ripened and beautifully packaged. We are widely acknowledged as making some of Australia's best cheese.

As a small-scale artisan cheesemaker, we make & sell a range of artisan cheeses and fresh dairy products (butter, yoghurt, crème fraîche, bottled milk) from certified-organic cow’s milk at our purpose-built fromagerie in the food precinct of The Mill Castlemaine. Our full range of artisan cheeses and fresh dairy products is available for you to taste and buy at our beautiful on-site shop, near Das Kaffeehaus. We also offer a monthly cheese subscription service.

Long Paddock Cheese is co-located with its sister business, The Cheese School. We offer two types of hands-on cheesemaking courses: relaxed weekend cheesemaking classes for enthusiasts, and 5-day intensive professional cheesemaking courses - sign up online or through our shop.

At Long Paddock Cheese we make outstanding artisan cheese. At The Cheese School we teach others how to do it.
