Council Plan

Mount Alexander Shire Councillors have adopted the Council Plan 2025-2029.

It outlines Council’s strategic direction and priorities for the next four years and supports the Community Vision.

The Council Plan was informed by extensive community consultation where Council asked the community what matters to them now and into the future.

1,100 residents from all over the shire provided feedback, which helped shape the plan.

Mount Alexander Shire Council’s Mayor, Councillor Rosie Annear, said some of the objectives outlined in the plan include:

  • Advocating for local services that respond to the complex needs of our community, particularly alcohol and other drugs, family violence, homelessness, mental health and allied health services.
  • Investigating and advocating for increased childcare and kindergarten opportunities.
  • Continuing our authentic partnerships and engagement protocols with Traditional Owners and First Nations groups.
  • Developing and implementing a shire-wide biodiversity strategy.
  • Expanding active transport connectivity and safety including footpaths, paths, and bike trails.
