Maldon BIG Project
Council has been granted $650,000 from Community Bank Maldon & District for the development of affordable housing in Maldon.
The $650,000 grant has been funded by the bank’s BIG Project grant, and the amount will be added to a $400,000 contribution from Council that will deliver affordable homes in Maldon.
About the project
The funding will deliver two modular homes for workers in Maldon and they will be the first project of the emerging Mount Alexander Affordable Housing Trust (MAAHT).
The MAAHT is a Council initiative that will be a charitable trust that will provide affordable rental housing solutions for the Mount Alexander Shire community.
The project will be managed by Haven Home Safe, a professional community housing provider, ensuring fair and expert tenancy management.

The BIG Project program
The BIG Project program is an initiative developed by the Community Bank Maldon & District.
With the rise of challenges facing the communities such as affordable housing, increased living cost of living, unhealthy lifestyles and domestic violence, the objective of the project is to have a positive impact for the local people of Maldon and surrounds.
The BIG Project was launched with a fund of $1m to celebrate 25 years of community banking in Maldon and Districts. The fund has recently increased to $1.5m, due to the quality of applicants, and a second grant will be announced soon.
